BOATING & FISHING: Pleasure boating, water skiing, jet skiing, sail boating, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddle boards can all be enjoyed at HorseThief Reservoir. HorseThief Reservoir offers crappie, large mouth bass, catfish, walleye & bluegill.
CAMPING: HorseThief has 55 water/electric campsites and an unlimited amount of primitive sites. Handicap accessible shower house and restrooms are nearby. We do offer a sewer dump station as well. We recently added four utility campsites that have sewer hookups. These are rented to long term campers , but could possibly be up for rental during other times of the year. Reservations for utility sites are accepted and are recommended during summer months and holidays! CABIN AND YURT RENTALS: HorseThief Reservoir offers four rentals which are open year round. These rentals consist of a one-room rustic cabin, a modern cabin, a modern yurt and a rustic yurt. The yurts are handicapped accessible. Each offers a fantastic view of the park and reservoir area. Cost of the rustic cabin and yurt per night is $85.00. The modern cabin and yurt rents for $110.00 per night. We do require a REFUNDABLE deposit of $150.00 for each lodging unit that is rented. The security deposit needs paid when booking any of our lodging units. Please contact the HorseThief Reservoir office for reservations.
HORSETHIEF LODGE AND OPEN AIR PAVILION: The HorseThief Lodge is complete and we are always taking reservations! The Lodge is a beautiful facility which will accommodates up to 200 guests. You will find a commercial kitchen with a refrigerator, two ovens, a microwave and a range for all of your catering needs. Please see our Lodge page for rental fees and guidelines. You will notice that another bathroom and shower house have been added close to our Lodge. It is handicapped accessible and will also be used as storm shelters. Close to the boat docks, you will see our Open Air Pavilion. It is also available for rent. Both of these facilities can be booked for weddings, business meeting or retreats, family and class reunions, and birthday parties.
DISC GOLF · RON ALLEN MEMORIAL DISC GOLF COURSE: New to the park in 2017, the Ron Allen Memorial Disc Course is located right here at HTR! The course was designed by Ron Allen’s grandson, Ethan Tschanz and world famous disc golfer, Eric McCabe. It has been a popular addition to the park! Ron saw the vision of HorseThief Reservoir and played a HUGE role in bringing the park to life. Unfortunately, Ron passed away just a few months sort of seeing water come into the Reservoir. Hodgeman County remembers Ron fondly and is thankful the family continues to be such active campers to HTR! There are no fees to play the Disc Golf Course; just a $5.00 daily vehicle permit! OTHER RECREATION: HorseThief also offers swimming, hunting (during season), picnicking, hiking trails, trail riding, bike trails and wildlife viewing
